Google's Enterprise Gmail Suffered An Outage In India But Is Now Restored

Did you face any glitch today while trying to get to a mail in your inbox, or while sending and receiving mails? You were not the only one, since Google’s email service, Gmail for businesses suffered an outage on Friday. All the users across India who use Gmail’s secure, private or ad-free email service faced an issue today, hampering their workflow and productivity. Downdetector also revealed that over 600 reports had been made regarding Gmail being down. Users reported issues while refreshing through Gmail, sending/receiving emails, accessing folders, et al.

As of now, only Gmail has been reported to have suffered the outage and it’s not clear yet if other Google services such as Youtube were also impacted by the outage. “We're investigating reports of an issue with Gmail. We will provide more information shortly. The affected users are able to access Gmail, but are seeing error messages, high latency, and/or another unexpected behaviour," mentioned the company as per the reports. No official details surrounding the time and duration of the outage has been released by Google yet. Also, there’s no clear reason as to why the outage happened.

This is not the first time that Google has suffered an outage and the company has faced outages earlier also. For instance, a few months back in June, a number of Google services including YouTube and Gmail suffered a major outage. The major root cause of these issues was the problem in Google’s cloud services that powers app and Google’s web services.
As of now, the outage has been resolved and Gmail for businesses is back to function again.
