OnePlus Will Launch Another 5G Smartphone By The End Of 2019

OnePlus, a company better known for its smartphones has made the news lately for its upcoming smart TV but that surely hasn't dented the company's desire in launching new feature-loaded smartphones.

The Chinese smartphone company's CEO, Pete Lau has now broken his silence and confirmed a new device, which will be launched before the year ends. In an interview with the Financial Times, Lau confirmed that a OnePlus 5G phone will be launched in the fourth quarter of this year, sometime between October and December. While there's no official name yet, speculations are rife that it could the rumored OnePlus 7T Pro.
The timeline Lau mentions here also falls in line with OnePlus' previous launches. To recall, the OnePlus 6T, OnePlus 5T, and the OnePlus 3T all launched in the month of November.
"We believe with the development of 5G technology next year we can have an (even) better performance, with the upcoming 5G era approaching, we are going to invest more," Lau told Financial Times in a statement.
While OnePlus already has a 5G capable device in its lineup with the OnePlus 7 Pro, it is currently limited to a handful of regions and with select carriers. The upcoming OnePlus 5G, however, is said to get a global release.
The OnePlus 7T Pro was previously leaked in an alleged live image, which showed off the phone in a casing that hides its design. However, there are no thick bezels and no notch, which hint at a pop-up camera design similar to the current OnePlus 7 Pro. The device was also seen running on a beta build of Android Q. As far as expectations go, OnePlus is also expected to feature Qualcomm's newly announced Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset in the new phone.
We're also expecting to see minor upgrades to the OnePlus 7 Pro's camera with the 7T Pro. Our guess would the addition of a ToF (time of flight) sensor that we recently saw Samsung add to the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G. The sensor is becoming an increasingly common feature on flagship camera phones and can improve portrait shots on the phone.
