OnePlus 7T Pro or iPhone 11, Which one is your choice?

One of the strongest competitors of the OnePlus 7T Pro is the recently-unveiled iPhone 11 that retails at a lesser price than its predecessor and sits pretty close to the top-end variant of the OnePlus flagship. Being one of the best Android phones on the market right now, the OnePlus 7T Pro inevitably locks horns with Apple’s budget flagship. Hence, we decided to put both the phones against each other to see how they perform. So, if you’re caught in two minds too and are eager to know which is the right one for you, read on to find which model you should be taking home.

OnePlus 7T Pro vs iPhone 11: Design

While it doesn’t take inspiration from the latest leaf of the design language in the industry, the OnePlus 7T Pro is one stunning phone. The phone is characteristic of curves that melt the front and the back of into one seamless body that is a pleasure to hold. The frosted matte finish back on the phone further adds to the feel and adds flair to the design. The phone retains the physical mute switch and has accessible power and volume buttons despite being a sizeable phone. The triple-camera setup is housed in an aesthetic vertical array at the centre of the back.

On the other hand, Apple is still sticking to a design that was first introduced with the iPhone X in 2017. The phone boasts of an aluminum-and-glass body and is available in 6 different colors. The phone, in comparison to the OnePlus 7T Pro, is smaller and is much more suitable for one-handed usage. But more importantly, the phone is IP68 rated meaning that it can be submerged in water up to 2 meters for 30 minutes. While OnePlus has advertised its phone to be water-resistant up to an extent, there is no official certification. The square module and huge camera cut-outs on the back of the iPhone 11 might be a bit ugly to digest for some.
Winner: OnePlus 7T Pro

OnePlus 7T Pro vs iPhone 11: Display

To make up for a clean front, the 7T Pro gets rid of the notch and instead opts for a pop-up camera system that was first introduced in a OnePlus phone with the 7 Pro. Resultantly, this leaves the entire front part of the phone for a gorgeous 6.67-inch QuadHD AMOLED panel that drools content from the edges of the phone. The panel itself is an excellent one and offers an exhilarating viewing experience that is further improved by the Dolby Atmos-supported dual stereo speaker setup. The display itself is an excellent panel that is both vivid and bright. Like its predecessor, this panel also supports a 90Hz refresh rate that adds a layer of fluidity in the entire experience.

Unfortunately, the iPhone 11 stands on the opposite end of the spectrum. Apple has decided to stick with a 720p LCD panel that was found on the iPhone XR. Further hampering the viewing experience is the thick side bezels that you just can’t unsee after placing it next to a phone like the OnePlus 7T Pro. While this is probably the best LCD panel I’ve ever seen on a phone, it fails to offer a media experience as captivating as the OnePlus 7T Pro.

Winner: OnePlus 7T Pro

OnePlus 7T Pro vs iPhone 11: Performance

The OnePlus 7T is powered by what is one of the most powerful processors out there; the Snapdragon 855+. Couple that with up to 12GB of RAM and UFS 3.0 storage, and the phone offers great performance. Thanks to the internals and the 90Hz display, the phone glides through everything and there’s nothing that the 7T Pro can’t handle. Of course, OnePlus’s highly-popular OxygenOS also plays an important role by offering a bevy of customizability features that helps unlock the true potential of the phone and allows one to make the phone truly theirs. The OnePlus 7T Pro offers an in-display fingerprint scanner and software-based face unlock for biometrics.

The Apple iPhone 11, on the other hand, is powered by Apple’s A13 Bionic that Apple claims are the most powerful smartphone chip in the world. Combine this insanely-powerful chip with a highly-optimized UI and a lower-resolution display, and the phone literally flies through everything. Even though the 11 doesn’t have a 90Hz display, iOS is fluid enough to not make you miss the 90Hz display in general usability. But where the iPhone 11 truly takes a lead is in augmented reality applications. Nothing comes close to it. Also, Face ID is still here and it’s faster than ever now. Face ID is hands-down, the best biometric authentication solution on a smartphone right now.

Winner: Apple iPhone 11 (relatively, as the OnePlus 7T Pro is still an excellent performer)

OnePlus 7T Pro vs iPhone 11: Camera

The OnePlus 7T Pro has a triple-camera setup at the back that consists of a primary 48MP sensor, a 16MP ultra-wide sensor and an 8MP telephoto camera that offers 3x optical zoom. Like the OnePlus 7T, the OnePlus 7T Pro too takes some great shots which are characteristic of popping colors and good dynamic range. Although, white balance does go for a toss at times. The phone is also capable of taking up to 4K video with the primary sensor (limited to 1080p@30fps on the ultra-wide sensor). It also has a Super Stable video mode that uses sensor data from both the wide-angle and regular cameras to offset hand motion and offer incredibly smooth results (but it’s limited to 1080p). Nightscape is here too and delivers better results with reduced noise and better colors. But it doesn’t do a job as good as iPhone 11’s night mode does. The OnePlus 7T Pro also has an all-new macro mode that can take shots as close as 2.5cm. While this isn’t a feature that a lot of people will use on a daily basis, it sure is an interesting addition.

With the iPhone 11, Apple has finally redeemed the iPhones in terms of their cameras. The iPhone 11 has a dual-camera setup that consists of a primary 12MP sensor and a 12MP ultrawide sensor. The camera upfront is a 12MP sensor that takes well-detailed selfies like the 16MP front snapper on the OnePlus 7T Pro. Results from the iPhone 11’s rear camera setup are just great. Colour reproduction is accurate, dynamic range is excellent and photos are well-detailed. Results are also very consistent between the two lenses, unlike most other phones with multiple-camera setups. But where the iPhone 11 truly takes a lead is in videography. All three cameras of the iPhone (yes, the selfie camera too) can take 4K videos at 60 frames per second. Videos taken on the iPhone 11 are extremely stable, have great color reproduction, on-point focus tracking, and excellent dynamic range. In fact, the iPhone 11 is the best phone for videography right now. As visible in sample shots, the iPhone also takes a lead in night photography when compared to the OnePlus 7T Pro. Its upcoming Deep Fusion tech that improves detail in images taken in medium to low-light conditions, will only improve the iPhone’s cameras further.

While the OnePlus 7T Pro offers a versatile camera setup that produced pleasing images, the iPhone 11 is the true all-rounder and is a much more reliable setup for shooting in low-light scenarios and for videography.

Winner: Apple iPhone 11

OnePlus 7T Pro vs iPhone 11: Battery & Charging

The OnePlus 7T Pro houses a 4,085mAh battery that now has support for OnePlus’s latest fast charging technology: Warp Charge 30T. The iPhone 11, on the other hand, has a 3,046mAh battery with support for up to 18W charging. Since the OnePlus 7T Pro is pushing a sharper QuadHD display with a refresh rate of 90Hz it doesn’t manage to beat the iPhone 11 in terms of battery endurance. The iPhone 11 has the advantage of a more optimized OS and a 720p LCD display that helps it go further.

But it’s important to note that the OnePlus 7T Pro can also last a day’s usage, just not as comfortably as the iPhone 11 though. But in terms of charging speeds, the OnePlus 7T Pro blows the iPhone 11 out of the water. The OnePlus 7T Pro is ridiculously fast in charging and can go from 10 to 100 in less than an hour. On the other hand, the iPhone 11 is a major disappointment in terms of charging speeds. Firstly, the phone only ships with a 5W charging brick that takes about 3 hours to charge the phone from zilch to 100. Even with an 18W charging brick, the phone takes about an hour and a half to charge.

Winner: OnePlus 7T Pro

OnePlus 7T Pro vs iPhone 11: Final Verdict

The OnePlus 7T Pro is one of the best flagship phones out there if Android is your preferred operating system. It has a great design, an excellent display, a versatile camera setup, extremely fast charging and a clean yet customizable UI going for it. The iPhone 11, on the other hand, has an excellent set of cameras, unmatched performance, a highly-optimized UI and waterproofing going for it.

So, which one should you go for if you’re OS agnostic? Well, if you rely on your smartphone for your media consumption and the design of the phone is a huge factor for you, the OnePlus 7T Pro is an excellent choice and won’t disappoint. But if cameras are of prime importance to you, the iPhone 11 is definitely the better bet.
