Samsung Launched Another A-Series Phone Named Galaxy A01

Samsung has just silently announced yet another A series phone in India, named the Galaxy A01. The phone features a 5.7-inch HD+ infinity-V display and is powered by an octa-core chipset.

The Infinity-V display means that the 5MP selfie camera lives in a notch. The LCD display otherwise has a 720p resolution with rounded corners. Around the back, there’s a dual-camera setup comprised of a 13MP main camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor. As far as video shooting capabilities go, there's no official confirmation but our guess is that it's capped at 1080p 30fps video.

The Galaxy A01 is powered by an unnamed chipset with an octa-core processor. We suspect it’s the entry-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset and the 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage back that up. The phone also supports expandable storage up to 512GB via a microSD card. Talking about microSD, the Galaxy A01 gets dedicated slots for two SIMs and one for the microSD card.

The storage can be expanded by up to 512GB more via a microSD card. The card slot has a dedicated spot for the microSD, so you can make full use of the dual SIM functionality.

A 3.5mm headphone jack on top of the phone along with an FM radio receiver can provide some free entertainment. The phone uses a 3,000mAh battery, but details like charging speeds are yet to be revealed. In fact, Samsung doesn't seem to have revealed too much just yet.

There’s also no word on when the Samsung Galaxy A01 will be available or in which market. Nothing on its price either, but we'll probably learn more about it in the following days.

If and when launched in India, our bet is that the Samsung Galaxy A01 will compete with the likes of the Xiaomi Redim 8A which is available online for a starting price of INR 6,499.
