Samsung's next foldable phone could be this RAZR-like clamshell

Samsung’s next foldable phone has been leaked on the world wide web. And no, this isn’t the next-gen Samsung Galaxy Fold that is expected to release next year. It is the clamshell folding phone akin to Motorola Razr that has been rumored to be in the making.

Samsung, in October, revealed in a video that it’ll continue experimenting with new fold factors. The video showed a clamshell-design phone with a hole-punch camera. The leaked live images of the phone show an exact replica of the concept shown in the video.

The first image of the phone shows the phone folded. When folded, there’s a dual-camera setup that will double-up as a primary camera when the phone is unfolded. Sitting to the left of the camera is an LED flash module. But unlike the Motorola Razr, this phone seems to have a much smaller display. There’s a tiny rectangular cutout that displays time and what seems like notification icons and battery level. The rest of the surface has a glossy finish and it’s hard to make out if there is a bigger display above the display visible in the image.

The right side of the phone seems to house the volume rocker and a rather flat power button. The power button being flat suggests that it might house a fingerprint scanner within, as we’ve seen on the Samsung Galaxy S10e. The bottom of the phone houses the USB Type-C port which is flanked with a grille on one side.

Finally, the phone opens up to reveal a tall, foldable display. The display is surrounded by sizeable bezels on all sides. Unlike the Motorola Razr, there’s no notch. Instead, the phone has a hole-punch camera. According to previous reports, this display measures in at 6.7 inches.

The phone is expected to be unveiled next year and has a much more affordable price tag. According to a report by The Korean Herald, the price is expected to be $845 (~INR 60,000).
