Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro Will Reportedly Have Support For 66W Fast Wired Charging

Since the Xiaomi Mi 9 series debuted in February last year, rumors speculate the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 10 series to happen in and around February next year too. Today, we have some information about the top-end variant of the Mi 10 series: the Mi 10 Pro,

According to a reliable tipster, reported by GizmoChina, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro will feature 66W fast wired charging technology. If true, this will be the fastest charging technology from Xiaomi in a commercial phone. At the time of writing, the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G that has support for 40W wired charging is the nimblest. The phone also supports 30W wireless charging.

The tipster further adds that the 66W charging tech will only take 35 minutes to fill the phone from zilch to zenith. While this might not seem as quick as the 50W charging technology that charges the Realme X2 Pro in under 35 minutes, the Mi 10 Pro might have a beefier battery.

Xiaomi recently, at its Xiaomi Developer Conference in China, introduced its 100W fast charging technology that can charge a 4,000mAh battery in a mere 17 minutes. While it's now clear as to when we’ll see a phone from Xiaomi that will take advantage of this new tech, it’s likely it’ll be before the end of next year.

Xiaomi is also rumored to be working on 50W fast wireless charging after recently introducing 30W wireless charging with the Mi 9 Pro 5G.

Instead of stretching smartphones to fit in bigger batteries, smartphone OEMs are bundle fast charging technology to make up for the lack of endurance. Currently, OPPO offers the fastest wired charging tech on a smartphone. Its OPPO Reno Ace was launched with a 65W charger that charges the 4,000mAh battery in 30 minutes flat.

The introduction of graphene batteries is likely to be the next step in improving smartphone battery endurance and charging times.
