You can Shop through your voice now in Amazon App in India

Amazon's new Alexa-powered voice-based feature that allows users to look up products and add new products to their cart with voice commands.

Amazon store app available for users with/without Amazon Prime accounts. To use the feature, users would need to update the Amazon India shopping app wherein they’d be asked for permission to access the microphone. Once the user allows access to their smartphone’s microphone, they’d be able to use the app.

This ‘speak to shop’ feature comes powered with Alexa, which can be activated by simply clicking on a voice button near the search bar on the app. Moreover, the feature hasn’t been rolled out globally yet and is only limited to Indian users right now. Also, there are no details as to when the feature would get rolled out for iOS users in India. Currently, only Android devices are going to get the update.

Keep in mind that the feature’s capabilities are currently only restricted to browsing through items and adding them to cart. You can’t use it to place or pay for an order. To browse through different items, just send instructions using the ‘voice button’. Apart from the Amazon online shopping app, Amazon India is also looking to bring Alexa to more Amazon apps.

In another Amazon news, Amazon recently announced that it’s no longer going to let third-party merchants advertise products on its website that claims to heal/treat coronavirus in people. As per Amazon, the company doesn’t want to promote products that fake medical claims and that are not approved by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA).
